This is a bronze statue of the 13th Ming Emperor Wanli, who ruled from 1573 to 1620.
He had been building Ding Ling since age 22, and when it was completed, he threw a
birthday bash here. Ding Ling was the first burial chamber to be officially excavated
in China in 1958. This statue is the centerpiece of a small museum of Wanli housed
in the tomb's Hall of Eminent Favors.
